Recently, Microchip Technology Inc. has released its new product, MCP16301, a high voltage buck converter. Generally speaking, the MCP16301 is a highly integrated, high-efficiency, fixed frequency, step-down DC-DC converter that operates from input voltage sources up to 30V. While regulating the output voltage from 2.0V to 15V, the MCP16301 can provide 600 mA of continuous current.

Meanwhile,MCP16301 Released by Microchip Technology Inc. Articles as for its integrated features, they mainly refer to a high-side switch, fixed-frequency peak-current mode control, internal compensation, peak current limit and over-temperature protection. What’s more, minimal external components are necessary to develop a complete step-down DC-DC converter power supply.   Moreover, by gathering the current limited, low resistance, high-speed N-Channel MOSFET and associated drive circuitry, high converter efficiency is achieved. High switching frequency minimizes the size of external filtering components resulting in a small solution size.   Additionally, it is put into a popular 6-pin SOT23 package. In industrial, telecommunications, consumer as well as automotive markets, it is an ideal for many applications, such as, STB, LED lighting, HVAC systems and power meters.   “The MCP16301 continues Microchip’s focus on high-efficiency power products,” said Bryan J. Liddiard, vice president of marketing with Microchip’s Analog and Interface Products Division. “It provides our customers with yet another competitive, compact solution for a wide variety of applications. Customers can implement a complete MCP16301 solution within the footprint of a typical D2DPAK LDO, while dissipating much less heat and providing higher efficiencies.”   Furthermore, senior electronic component product marketing engineer with Microchip’s Analog and Interface Products Division, Mikhail Voroniouk uttered further, “The MCP16301 highlights Microchip’s commitment to providing our customers with a wide-ranging product portfolio that is focused on low power consumption.”
