The best methods for storing your e-liquids

Storing your e-juice is a very important thing you should consider, especially if you buy in bulk. If you are a very experienced vaper you probably already have a process in place to store your vape juice. Newcomers may struggle with the concept at first especially trying to figure out which method is the most effective for them and the amount of vape juice that they have.

Below we have a few methods and tips to help you get started in storing your e-liquids.

Sensitivity to the sun and heat

If you don't know anything about storing your gear, the main thing you should understand is that e-liquids do not like heat, light and especially the sun. They should be kept in a cool and dark environment so they don't expire any quicker than they should. Nicotine that is present in a lot of these liquids is super sensitive to light and heat as well. The more it is exposed to the sunlight you will find that the flavour and nicotine tend to diminish over time.

Additionally the cooler temperature slows down the natural chemical process that breaks down your e-liquid. It will also slow down any growths of bacteria when you are storing your gear. A lot of vapers tend to store their extra bottles or cartridges in their fridge or freezer. This has been known to alter the consistency and taste of your blend though so you many need to take that into consideration. If you do decide to store them in the fridge, be sure to let them come down to room temperature before you decide to vape them.

Long term storage methods

Now that you know the basis behind your storage you should consider some long term methods. If you purchase your e-liquid in plastic bottles you need to be aware that they aren't meant for long term storage. If you buy your supplies in bulk you should consider transferring it to a bottle with an air seal and most preferably with tinted glass.

These sorts of storage containers or vials are fairly cheap to purchase with many different options available online or from your local vape shop. This small little investment will definitely pay off in the long run as you will be able to keep the high quality of your e-liquid months after you have purchased it.

Understanding steeping

There is quite the debate in the vaping community about the effectiveness of a technique known as steeping. Steeping is the technique that allows your vape juice to essentially ripen as it interacts with the oxygen in the air to give you a more intense flavour. Think of it as letting a fine wine breath before you drink it.

Chemicals can interact faster when they experience heat which is why you will see some vapers put their e-liquids in hot bath to speed up the process. While it does speed up the steeping technique it can also alter the chemical equilibrium and compromise it completely. If you were to steep without the hot water bath it takes approximately 5 to 7 days for it to reach its peak level.

While this is an average you should also do the process with your own vape juicesFind Article, taking notes to find when the optimal steeping process is.

So vapers say that the flavour and experience is definitely heightened when you do this technique but some manufactures of vape juice advise that you don't do it with their products as the chemical composition is perfect when you receive the product.
