To Install Outdoor Motion Detector

Motion detectors protect your house from the intrusion of burglars. Outdoor motion detector can protect your outer space like swimming pool, lawn or shed.

Motion detectors are installed to protect the interior of your house from sudden intrusion of burglars. But you need to protect the outside of your home too where you have properties that are not directly attached to your house structure like swimming pool, lawn or shed. Outdoor motion detector can be installed to protect these structures.

There are different varieties of motion detectors designed to safeguard your outside properties. One comes with a transmitter that does not let the burglar know that it has been detected rather it sends signal to the main receiver at home. Thus, you can catch the intruder without letting it be alert. The transmission works up to a distance of 400m.

But if you do not follow the installation procedure to the word, then the outdoor detector would not serve its actual purpose. If you are installing this property protection device yourself, follow the below mentioned steps.

-          Select a strategic position according to the layout of your house which can give you maximum protection. Circuit power supply from the main fuse has to be turned off so that you do not receive deadly electricity shock. A little carelessness can even claim your life.

-          Remove the old fixture by unscrewing the bolts and disconnecting the wires attached with them. Keep this fixture at a safe distance where you would not step on it.

-          Fix the new fixture with the bolts once you align the screw holes with corresponding ones that are on the fixture plate. Make sure that fixture is secured at the right place and screws are tight.

-          With the help of the gasket which is on the fixture plate insert the wires in place into the fixture. Wires of the device have to be connected with the wires of house- white with the white ones and black with the black ones.

-          Now it has to be connected with the junction box. This fixture comes with two screws along with the device. Then attach light bulbs

-          Turn on the power supply and to check if the installation has been done properly switch on the light. To check whether the motion detector is working or not you can ask someone to walk within sensor range.

The outdoor motion detector has been designed so that you can stop intrusion without having to confront the burglars. You have no idea about their strength or if they have arms. Therefore it is recommended that once intrusion in detected, call the police to handle them instead of confronting them yourself.
