Day 1: Arrival in Barcelona City

You can reach barcelona city by taking flights to barcelona from any international airlines. People from European countries can reach there through high speed (AVE) trains that runs to the city from different stations out of Spain.  

About Barcelona

Barcelona also known as “City of Counts”, is the capital city of the Catalonian community of Spain. It is the second largest city of Spain with a population of 1.6 million inhabitants. Both Spanish and Catalan are spoken here and both are considered as official languages of the city. Barcelona is famous for its architectural landmarks by the great architect, Antoni Gaudi. There are many historical monuments in the city that have been credited by the World Heritage Site Organization. Antoni Gaudi is a Spanish architect from Reus the capital of  Baix Camp in Tarragona province. He is well known for his many architectural landmarks including his Magnus Opus, La Sagrada Familia. Day 4: La Rambla Street

Another area that attracts tourists in Barcelona is the historical town and the Rambla street area. The street stretches to a distance of 1.2 kilometers, decorated by trees on both sides. The street take you from Placa de Catalunya, the central square, all the way to Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. The street also form a boundary with gothic quarter to the east and El Raval to the west. The street is most crowded in tourist season.

Day 5: Pablo Picasso Museum

Pablo Picasso Museum is located in Montcada street in the bank district of the city. The museum is dedicated to the work of painter, Pablo Picasso. Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga but spend last years of his life in the Barcelona City. The museum alone attracts thousands of tourists every year. It has 4249 unique collection of work by the painter. It is a must visit destination in the city.

3 Day in Girona: From Barcelona to Girona

Girona is a province the Catalonia with Girona city as its capital. People can reach the city in 1 hour 13 minutes via AP-7 highway. Here in the province you can find many tourists destinations including the coastline of Costa Brava. The coastal area runs along the  Mediterranean Sea in three comarcas of the province i.e. Alt Emporda, Baix Emporda and Selva. It brings several beautiful islets, medieval islands and beaches for tourists interest in Costa Brava. There are many great sights to see in this province that are outline below

    1. Dali Museum, Figueres

      Figueres city is well known for its famous Dali Museum along with theatre. It is the capital of the Alt Emporda comarca in province of Girona. There are many things that you can do in this small city such as to visit the birthplace of the Spanish artist, Salvador Dali. The museum is designed by the artist himself. The town is also the birthplace of Narcís Monturiol i Estarriol, inventor of first machine powered submarine. There are also few old Romanesque churches that people can visit in Figueres.

    2. Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava

      Tossa de Mar is a medieval town located on Costa Brava some few kilometers north of the Barcelona city. The town is a great tourists destination in Costa Brava. The main sights to see in Tossa de Mar is old medieval town, the Roman Villa of Ametllers and few serene beaches of Tossa Costal side.

    3. Girona Medieval town

      Medieval old town in Girona is tourist hot spot in the city. The old town is walled and there are forts located in the town with their history dates back to the Moorish rule in Catalonia. People will love to visit the building designed under the Moorish taifa of Catalonia.

    5. Lloret de Mar is coastal town in Costa Brava some 40 kilometers away from Girona. The town attracts thousands of tourist as there are many beautiful buildings and beaches in the area. There are many cultural sites as well as some castles, museums and beaches that people can visit such as castle of Sant Joan, Church of Sant Roma, Angel monument and many more interesting sites in Lloret de Mar.

 

There are still many places you can discover in the province of Girona if you can add more days to your tour in the visit to Girona province. For Girona the tour will move to Lleida province of Catalonia.

Day 9: Lleida, Catalonia

Lleida liest in the west part of Catalonia. Lleida is best for nature explorers. People can enjoy motorcycle trekking in Pre-Pyrenees mountain range that lies in the province of Lleida. People can also enjoy the nature’s beauty of Aigüestortes and St. Mauritius National Park in Lleida. The city of Lleida also provide lot of interest places to visit. Lleida is a province for adventure travelers who wants to know things that others just don’t bother. There are many valleys, villages and nationals parks that people can visit in this province of Spain. You can also visit the great Lleida city museum in this region of Catalonia.

Day 10: From Lleida to Tarragona

Tarragona is the province of eastern Spain. It is a port city, provincial capital Tarragona province in Catalonia. There are many sights to see in the capital city such as Roman remains of Tarrco, national archeological museum and the Daurada costal side.
