One of the great attractions of skiing in Les Menuires is that you can do a lot of other things too – it’s not JUST about skiing!

When you book a holiday to go skiing in Les Menuires,Attractions Apart from Skiing in Les Menuires Articles there is so much to love about the area in terms of the actual skiing, with a fantastic range of slopes and a host of other facilities - including, from 2015, new larger and more comfortable chair lifts.

However, a skiing holiday can’t be all about the snow and nothing else, because however much you adore snow sports, you’ll probably find that you want the chance to do other things as well. That’s likely to be doubly true if you’re travelling with your family.

This is where a holiday skiing in Les Menuires scores so well, as this lively resort offers so many other things to do. Here’s just a sample of some of the many things on offer.

The Fun Park

OK, adults might look a bit daft ‘strutting their stuff’ on the bouncy castles and trampolines, but it’s a sure-fire winner for younger children. This is somewhere you’re likely to spend a fair bit of time once they know it’s there! (Of course if you want to spend most of your time on the snow, you might want to keep this place a secret from the youngsters!)

The Sports Centre

This excellent centre provides things like table tennis, badminton and squash. It’s very popular with those seeking a break from skiing in Les Menuires, or on those rare days when the weather might be unsuitable to be outdoors.

Cuisine

The resort has somewhere between 30 and 40 restaurants (the number goes up and down a little – hence the range). They cover all tastes and budgets and, surprisingly, in spite of their number they can be busy and difficult to get into some nights if you arrive on spec. So do make sure you book ahead for your peace of mind, or if you are hoping to get in with no notice, try to come early.

If you want some of the most exquisite food around, Les Menuires has a 3-Star restaurant called La Bouitte. It won’t come cheap but it is a fantastic experience for foodies.

Retail Therapy

As you’d expect, the resort is very well equipped with shops and rental establishments providing skiing related accessories and goods. What’s nice about it though (and slightly unusual), is that it also has a good range of other shops as well - including jewellers, butchers, greengrocers and outlets offering fresh local bread, pastries and charcuterie.

Nightlife

While partaking of the nightlife isn’t really an alternative to skiing in Les Menuires, it does bear mentioning for those who are interested. Don’t expect rustic charm, as most of the discos and nightclubs are in the basement of accommodation blocks - but you’re not there to admire the architecture! The nightlife is lively and surprisingly cosmopolitan compared to some other resorts in the Alps.

The bottom line is, however you like to spend your downtime, you’ll have plenty to do apart from just skiing in Les Menuires.
