Viewed at early dawn,Budapest: Lots to celebrate about Articles day, or the depth of night, Budapest looks gorgeous any time. Beautiful neo-classic buildings, museums, tree-lined avenues and of course, the river Danube, just about complete the picture.

Whether you walk into the city with a sleeping bag or a hefty pocket book, there is something here for everybody. And if you are especially looking for luxury hotel accommodation in a great location then we recommend the Budapest Hilton, the much sought-after luxury five star hotel atop Castle Hill. Some think of it as a gaudy appendage to a city known for its understated elegance. To quite a few of the new generation though, the Budapest Hilton is a luxury hotel representative of the blending in of the new with the old.

Then there are other five star hotels too, if you are particularly keen on a good view of the Budapest landscape. The Danubius Hotel Gellert is one such. It has great surroundings with all the relaxation features of a good five star hotel. What is more, it has great luxury spas as well thanks to its ancient bathing halls.

For that matter, another luxury hotel along the Danube – the InterContinental Budapest – too, has a wonderful luxury spa along with a great café, bar, etc.

There are great many things to do in Budapest. If you happen to be walking along the Castle area, for example, you might like to check out the enormous portal with statues of lions. The Buda Castle itself is a great treasure house of art and artifacts, do take the time to go in and view the collection for you. There are other attractions as well that you might want to check out. In the Royal Palace itself you will come across the Matthias Church, a neo-gothic structure and the crowning glory of the city of Budapest. The Palace also houses the famous Fisherman’s Bastion as well as a terrace atop which visitors are able to get a magnificent view of the city.

And if you are strolling beside the Danube you will encounter several bridges such as the Arpad Bridge, Margaret Bridge, and the Liberty Bridge, to name just a handful. Of these the most famous and the most frequently photographed is the Chain Bridge.

But if you find yourself in the downtown area don’t forget to pay a visit to the Parliament Building constructed most imaginatively along neo-gothic lines. Also worth visiting are the St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Great Synagogue. Behind the latter is a memorial which stands as tribute to the Shoah victims. Most people come away sobered by their visit to a nearby synagogue which is a grim reminder of the Jewish holocaust.

But then there is such a cheerful aspect to the city that you cannot fail to be doused by it. If you happen to visit Budapest during Easter, for instance, you’ll be swept up by its jocose ambience before you know it.

You will also love the irrepressible pub culture of the city. Walk into a bar during a hot summer night and you’ll probably find yourself in the company of buddies drinking a cool glass of Hungarian beer. Despite its grim history, Budapest has lots to celebrate about.
