Founded in 1100 BC, Cadiz in Spain is a port city located on the southern tip of Spain. It juts out into a bay. Surrounded almost entirely by water, this city has all the capacity to rejuvenate you.
The lively atmosphere resurrects the desire of even someone who is reluctant to travel. Narrow alleyways, back streets, open squares and spectacular churches, all compliment the beauty of the Cadiz bay. It is the oldest establishment of Spain. One of the main attractions for the tourists in this city is the Carnival celebration.
Standing on the peninsula and jutting into a bay, Cadiz regained its splendor the bleak reign of Moors and Visigoths. It became a famous launching point for flying to many regions of newly discovered America during 16th century. 18th century is considered to be the golden period of this city. You can find some of the greatest 18th century walls like Landward Gate. You cannot remain unimpressed with the picturesque charm of the old Central Quarter. Many of the buildings have attractive architecture.
The Moorish appearance of the old attracts the attention of everyone out there. The intriguing and narrow cobbled streets open into small squares. Slightly dilapidated air pervades the entire region and it takes only an hour to walk around the headland which comprise of gorgeous parks and is decorated with lovely view of the bay. The areas of Cadiz are quite safe to ramble around even in the night.
