Some of the annual events that you can participate in or observe when you visit Dallas include the following.

Help The Homeless WalkAThon

The annual drive to help the homeless takes place on the second Saturday of November of each year. The event starts off at the Dallas City Hall and features a walk as well as musical performances at the end of the charity walk. The proceeds for the WalkAThon are to help the homeless living in Dallas. The Help The Homeless WalkAThon began a few years ago and has been gaining momentum.

Children's Christmas Parade

The Children's Christmas Parade takes place the first Saturday in December down Commerce Street and is sponsored by Neiman Marcus. While it cannot compare to the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, this is all about children and all about Santa and raises funds for the Children's Medical Center in Dallas. The parade is often featured on TV and is an annual event for many Texas families. More than 350,000 people crowd to downtown Dallas to watch this parade.

Quilt Festival

If you enjoy looking at some of the most beautiful quilts in the country, you will enjoy the Dallas Quilts Festival that is held every year at the Irving Arts Center in Downtown Dallas. The event takes place on the first Sunday of February of each year. The quilts that are displayed are art quilts that have been hand designed by various quilting artists. The Quilt Festival is one of the better known in the country and features quilt from some of the best known quilting artists.

Texas Golf Exposition

The weather in Texas is mild throughout the year and is perfect for golf. You can visit the Texas Golf Exposition during the last weekend of February each year for all of the latest golfing gear as well as techniques. This event takes place each day beginning on the last Thursday in February and ends on Sunday at the Dallas Market Hall. This is an event that is open to the public and is enjoyed by golf enthusiasts from all over the United States.

Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival

This festival takes place every weekend in April and May in Dallas at the Waxahachie festival grounds. The Renaissance festival features performances such a jousting, falconry as well as musical performances. There are also artisans hand-crafting items as they did nearly 1000 years ago. If you get tired of living in the modern world, you can enjoy your time at the Dallas Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival.

Texas Black Rodeo

The Texas Black Rodeo features black cowboys and cowgirls at the Fair Park in Dallas. This is an annual event that is entering into it's 22nd year. It occurs on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend each year and features contests and prizes for contestants. This is the first African American rodeo in the United States and pays tribute to the black cowboy.
