Rome is the perfect city for a romantic weekend break away. However if you're only going for a weekend Rome,Enjoy A Weekend in Rome City Articles you will need to plan your time carefully to make the most of it! I have put together a guide on a night in Rome to give you some ideas of how you can spend an evening in the glamorous city.

The best way to start an evening out in Rome is to eat at one of the many magnificent restaurants. The best restaurant in Rome (as voted for by Zagat) is the Vivendo which is located in the St Regis Grand Hotel. The restaurant is very sophisticated (so the dress code is smart) and it has been decorated in a 40s style with wall hangings and Roman columns. The head chef is Chef Francesco Donatelli whose signature dish is sautéed scallops with asparagus and black olive pate in a seafood sauce. However, this restaurant is not cheap so if you're looking for something a bit less extravagant then there are plenty of authentic pizzerias on the streets of Rome.

Next you could visit Teatro dell'Opera to see a ballet or an opera, this is big night out for the locals and an excuse to dress up! Many productions have been performed at the Teatro dell'Opera including Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Norma. If you want to find out what's on when you visit you will have to visit the website because it changes quite regularly. With regards on where to sit, I would recommend one of the boxes, because the cheaper tickets mean you will be sitting high up which can spoil your view. Some of the weekend performances are shown early evening, so you might want to visit the theatre first and then go out to eat. Ticket prices vary on where you sit but you can order them online before you go.

Then what better place to finish a night than with a few cocktails in ReRe, this is one of Rome's more extravagantly decorated bars. ReRe's walls are painted red, with Leopard print covered chairs and dull lighting, I know it sounds tacky, but it is a sight not to be missed! They've turned it into a romantic bar with candles, fairy lights and sofas for two. They have a decent wine list, where you can choose between a 'Grattamacco' and a 'Nebbiolo' or why not try both?

If you want to find out about other restaurants or bars to visit when in Rome, then just read another travel guide. Other guides on Rome will be able to recommend good accommodation in the city and what opera or ballet's are on when you plan your visit. Whatever time you plan to visit Rome, you will never be short of anything to do!
