Enjoy the guaranteed snow and extensive runs of the Val Thorens ski area from a cosy base in Les Menuires. The comfortable catered ski chalet Chalet Lorraine is set in a pretty development just outside the town,Explore the Three Valleys From the Comfort of Your Own Catered Chalet Articles beside the Doron river.

Location

The chalet is part of a satellite village belonging to the stylish resort of Les Menuires in the Val Thorens Valley. Part of the extensive Three Valleys skiing area, this town is connected to the Three Valleys’ network of runs by direct chair and cable car lifts to both Val Thorens and Méribel.

Close to the piste and lift system, Chalet Lorraine and its three ‘sister’ chalets are set slightly apart from the main resort of Les Menuires, giving it a rustic, peaceful Alpine charm of its own.

Inside the Chalet

The living area of this cosy catered ski chalet is on the first floor to take advantage of the lovely views across the valley, while its four en-suite bedrooms are on the ground floor.

Perfect for a family, the chalet offers a range of home comforts, ranging from free Wi-Fi and satellite TV to a selection of board games and books to keep the younger kids entertained, while the adults can enjoy a relaxing sauna or outdoor hot-tub. The open-plan living space and pretty balcony designed to catch the afternoon sun make this a great place to hang out together at the end of a long day’s ski.

Après Ski

A shuttle bus connects the chalet to Les Menuires and its popular, stylish range of bars, shops and restaurants. If you’re looking for a place for a hot chocolate and a bit of people watching after a day on the pistes, stop off at La Trattoria with its bustling terrace before returning to your catered ski chalet for a delicious dinner.

There’s plenty for families to do in Les Menuires, with facilities ranging from a tobogganing run and snow scooter rental to a swimming pool and cinema. Parents looking for a little peace and quiet might enjoy the sports and wellbeing centre with its excellent spa.

For those looking to make a night of it there are lots of lively bars. Try the Cave des Belleville for excellent local wines before moving on to the Bar Pub Le Mousse or one of Les Menuires’ two nightclubs.

Where to Eat on the Staff Day Off

There is such a large range of restaurants in Les Menuires that you will be spoilt for choice on the one night a week when the staff at your catered ski chalet are not there to serve you delicious, home-cooked food. For a family-friendly, authentic local restaurant, try La Marmite de Géant, a brasserie serving local Savoyard specialities as well as pizza and pasta dishes for the less adventurous eaters.

Fans of gastronomic adventures should venture down the valley to Saint-Martin-de-Belleville to experience the 3-Michelin-star splendour of La Bouitte with its stunning mix of traditional Alpine fare and exquisite modern fine dining.

How to Get to Chalet Lorraine

The chalet has free parking, so if you want the convenience of having your own car then driving is a good option. Follow the A43 motorway to Albertville and then on to Moutiers. Finally, take the D117 to Les Menuires.

The Eurostar and TGV train services stop at Moutier, a 45-minute drive from the chalet by taxi or bus.

Those looking to fly will find a number of charter flights to the nearest airports, Geneva, Grenoble or Chambery, from which a minibus service is available to the chalet.
