This Umaid Bhawan Palace was built-in 1929 by Maharaja Umaid Singh. It is one of the largest privately-owned property in the world as it spread across 26 acres area and it is generally said that the yellow sandstones were used to build this massive architecture.

  1. The Umaid Palace is divided into sections:
    1. The Royal Residence: This section of the Umaid Palace is believed to be the house of the Royal Family and Maharaja Gaj Singh is the Grandson of Maharaja Umaid Singh and he is living in this royal residence with his family.
    2. The Umaid Palace: This section of the Umaid Palace comes under Taj Hotels Resorts since 2005. This hotel has more than 64 accommodations and comprising of 39 suites, 25 rooms which are further categories into several parts like Maharani Suite, Maharaja Suite, Royal Suite, Regal Suite, and Deluxe Suite.
    3. The Museum of Umaid Palace: This Museum is a collection of so many historical monuments and artifacts.
      1. This museum is open for all as you can see several flags gifted to Maharaja Jaswant Singh by Queen Victoria in the 19th century, stuffed wild animals like leopards, collection of classic cars, Darbar Hall, rare paints, etc. 
  2. The History behind the Formation of this Umaid Place: According to the storyteller, it is believed that in the 1920s famine struck the Jodhpur city and then people requested Maharaja Umaid Singh to help them. His Royal Highness who was the grandfather of the present Maharaja commissioned to a new palace to give employment to all the people over there. This expensive startup was constructed from 1928 to 1943 which was enough for people to survive in a difficult time.

Best Time to explore this palace:
