Faliraki Nudist Beach

Faliraki on the Greek island of Rhodes has long been famous for its nightlife but is now attracting other visitors who are coming for its secluded nudist beach.

One of the Mediterranean's liveliest resorts, Faliraki on the Greek island of Rhodes has been a popular choice with the younger crowds for years now. They flock to the island for the famouse Bar Street and Club Street and the famous beach parties.

As this crowd spend most of the day in bed or by the pool nursing their hangovers, a few of the islands other visitors head to the Faliraki nudist beach to spend the morning.

Because of where it is, most of the party crowd don't even know the beach exists. It is at the southern end of Faliraki and is only accessible by a path that takes you over a steep hill and then down to the beach. It is only a few minutes walk and is sign posted as FKK. Once down at sea level you will find everything you would expect on any normal beach, sun loungers, umbrellas and of course a small bar serving snacks as well as cool drinks.

The first thing you will notice when you get down there is the heat. It feels hotter than the main beach because it is in a small cove surrounded by cliffs. Temperatures often rise above 40c by mid afternoon so it best to get there as early as possible and don't forget the sun block.

Experienced naturists will tell you "You are what you are" and it certainly does feel like the pressure is off when it comes to looking good on a nudist beach. You won't find the poser or "look at me" types on these beaches. If you have always fancied trying it and are heading to Rhodes for a holiday, take the plunge and head for the nudist beach.

Because it cannot be reached without coming down the path which has plenty of signs in all languages stating it is a nudist beach, you will not find gawpers hanging around as you do at some European nudist beaches.

If you are feeling a little shy you will find plenty of small alcoves within the rocks for you to bathe in a little more privacy. There is also some sand dunes at the top of the hill that you can use although you are well away from the sea.

If you are an experienced naturist and intend using the beach dailyScience Articles, there are several hotels and apartments very close to Faliraki nudist beach. Hotel Matina is probably the best of these and it will take you 10 minutes from reception to beach.
