German tourists prefer to spend holidays among compatriots

The majority of German tourists prefer to spend a vacation among their compatriots. Only a few of them try to get in contact with other tourists or local residents. Such conclusion has been made by the experts of the German Institute for Market Research GfK.

Such conclusion has been made by experts of the German Institute for Market Research GfK.The German division of the large tourist portal TripAdviser recently has published the results of research of German tourists’ preferences. That survey has been held by the German Institute for Market Research GfK. More than 1000 German tourists have taken part in it,German tourists prefer to spend holidays among compatriots Articles 500 of them spend holiday abroad on a regular basis. German tourists do not like to have a rest with the British. Experts of GfK have informed, that 61 percent of respondents have noted that they had to face with improper behavior of other tourists. Answering the question about the national identity of noisy and ill-bred holiday-makers, 20 percent of respondents have named the British. The next were Russian tourists - they irritate 18,5 percent of respondents. On the third place there were German tourists themselves – it was the answer of 15 percent of respondents. On the fourth place were Dutch - 11,9 percent of respondents have mentioned them. The majority of respondents - 62,2 percent - have declared that they feel extremely unpleasant in the environment of drunken tourists of any nationality, frequently behaving improperly. Besides, the majority of respondents have noted, that tourists from Switzerland and Austria do not disturb them with their behavior. However, in Bavaria the survey has revealed absolutely opposite results: 15,1 percent of the Bavarians, who participated in research, are not satisfied with behavior of the Austrian tourists, 10,6 percent - the Swiss tourists. Germans do not aspire to come into contacts with other holiday-makers. According to GfK, only a few German tourists aspire to come into contacts with other tourists or local residents. 37 percent of respondents prefer to communicate during their rest exclusively with Germans. In East Germany this percent is still higher - 48,5 percent. 25,1 percent of respondents do not look for new acquaintances on their rest at all. In East Germany this parameter is 31,2 percent. As a whole it turns out, that 62 percent of respondents avoid acquaintances with tourists from other countries. For the population of East Germany this figure is 79,7 percent.Nevertheless, 11,3 percent of respondents get acquainted with foreign tourists with pleasure, and 20,4 percent - come into contacts with local residents. Traditionally German resorts are the following: Spain, Turkey, Italy.According to the results of the survey, the majority of German tourists prefer to have a rest in the countries where there are traditionally many Germans. Spain is from this category - 17,4 percent of respondents have chosen it. The next is Turkey (13,4 percent), and on the third place is Italy (11,6 percent). However, 45,2 percent of participants of this research have declared, that it is not possible to estimate, in which countries they are especially glad to see German tourists.
