Start your exploration in the historic district, in the neighborhood of San Telmo. Here you will find a plethora of universities, restaurants, bars, cafes, and nightclubs. The atmosphere of San Telmo truly takes you back in time, with cobblestone streets lined with tall trees. This is the perfect place to do some shopping or enjoy a beverage in one of the many cafes. If you happen to be in the area on a Sunday you can enjoy the Feria de San Telmo, where artisans gather to display their goods. Take a walk around, and enjoy the local goods and many antiques that can be found.

 

For a splash of color, take a trip to La Boca, a vibrant neighborhood east of the Plaza de Mayo. Named La Boca, as it is situated at the mouth or “boca” of the merger of the Rio de la Plata and the Riachuelo, this neighborhood was one of the first ports in Buenos Aires. This area is known for its brightly painted houses, which date back to when Genovese immigrants would use the left over paint from ships to paint their homes. After admiring the colors of the area, make your way to the Centro Cultural de los Artistas, for artist workshops and cafes. Here you will also encounter many street performers, specializing in the dance Buenos Aires is known for, the tango.

 

To escape the fast-paced atmosphere of Buenos Aires, travelers and locals alike can be found relaxing in the peaceful district of Palermo, with over 350 acres of wooded areas, parks, and lakes, Palermo is the perfect get away from the city life. It is often seen that families will enjoy the green space with a picnic, or other locals will use this vast area for biking or jogging. Occupying such a large area, Palermo is split into several neighborhoods, Palermo Hollywood, Palermo Chico, and Palermo SoHo. Palermo Hollywood provides a new “hip” atmosphere, stocked with restaurants with a wide variety of cuisine from traditional to vegetarian, and all that is in-between. This is also a great neighborhood to find design and clothing shops. Palmero SoHo is the perfect area to shop, if you are looking for some of the top designers you can find them here. If you are looking for great shopping deals, head to Avenida Córdoba where you can find outlets on name brand clothing.
