If you are planning a skiing holiday,La Tania: Discover the Three Valley’s Best Hidden Gem Articles the Three Valleys in the French Alps is probably at the very top of your list of dream destinations. There is, however, one catch for those travelling on a budget: it is one of the most expensive ski regions in Europe. Nevertheless, if you look closely enough, you will find a hidden, affordable gem within this glitzy area: La Tania, with its affordable catered ski chalets and welcoming atmosphere.

I Hadn’t Heard of it; Tell Me More!

La Tania is a beautiful, traffic-free village that provides really easy access to the general Three Valley area, thanks to its 12-person high-speed gondola lift. Moreover, while in nearby Courchevel a simple cheeseburger might leave your wallet mourning the loss of £30, La Tania is much more affordable, while still providing high-quality amenities.

The resort is smaller than its nearby neighbours, but it still boasts over 150 kilometres of tree-lined pistes and you will be warmly welcomed by locals and fellow tourists alike.

What is the Accommodation Like?

Although there are plenty of options on offer, one of the best ways to enjoy La Tania is by renting one of its many catered ski chalets. They can sleep up to 28 people at a time, proving the perfect venue for family gatherings or friends’ reunions. They also provide you with all the appeal of romantic wooden cabins, roaring fireplaces, and rustic décor whilst still offering excellent levels of comfort. The hospitable members of staff will cook your meals on-site and generally take care of you during your stay.

Sounds Great… But What if I Want to Explore the Town Too?

If you feel like taking a break from skiing for a day, or want to venture out on the weekend, La Tania has a wonderful selection of things to do and places to visit.
Although the catered ski chalets are warm and cosy, being inside can sometimes lead to a bit of cabin fever. But don’t worry: La Tania has got you covered. You'll find a newsagent with same-day UK newspapers, souvenirs, and books, and a Tourist Office with a Post Office so you can send postcards to your friends back home.

Last But Not Least: Where Can I Eat?

On the high end of the market, you'll find a Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Farçon, which is the perfect place to treat yourself to a posh night out. La Tiaga, a chalet-style restaurant, also offers great quality food, including fillet steaks and tiger prawns.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for more affordable options, head to La Saucisse Savoyarde. This part-shop, part-deli is run by locals Kirsty and Bruno, and is an ideal place to go for a picnic lunch or a hot bacon sandwich. It also offers various cheeses and charcuterie that you can enjoy there or have vacuum-packed to take home. The delicious local wines on offer will make the perfect companions to the homemade evening meals awaiting you in your choice of La Tania’s catered ski chalets.
