How many times have you watched Little House On The Prairie, if your like most folks, the answer to that is probably, a lot of times. Little House On The Prairie is without a doubt one of the best shows that has ever been on Television, besides The Waltons.

One of the most beloved characters of the Television show is 'Laura Ingalls' who was played by Melissa Gilbert. Later on in the show, as in real life, she married Almanzo Wilder, and became Laura Ingalls Wilder. The show was actually based upon real life stories that were written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and published in a series of books.

If you are ever near Mansfield, MO, you would be wise to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home & Museum. There are multiple buildings to visit and tour through, the actually farmhouse where Laura and Almanzo lived the majority of their life, and the stone house, a beautiful home that was given to Laura and Almanzo by their Daughter Rose, a gift shop and an actual museum.

If you have watched the Television series, then one of the most well known items that were in the house when Laura was a child was Pa (Charles) Ingalls fiddle. The actual fiddle that Charles Ingalls played for his families enjoyment, is on display at the museum, along with such wonderful items to see, such as; numerous authentic family photographs, newspaper clippings of the time that dealt with family members, letters exchanged between family members, handwritten manuscripts, pieces of Mary and Laura's clothing that they hand sewed, and much more.

At the Gift Shop you can purchase numerous items such as; tin cups like the ones the family drank from, books, and numerous other items. There are picnic tables placed near the Rock House, where you can sit and have a nice lunch, or just relax and enjoy the sights and sounds.

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home & Museum have rates that are very reasonable, the Museum is open from March 1 - November 15.
