While staying in Mayfair,Mayfair, the Gem of London Articles which is a district in Central London, England, you will more than likely come across a giant marble arch. It is cleverly called the Marble Arch. I would like to provide you with some information concerning this interesting arch.    Based on Rome's Arch of Constantine, the Marble Arch was designed by John Nash, a son of a Welsh millwright, in 1828. Although the placement of the arch may seem a little odd, it was intended to be an entrance to Buckingham Palace at one point, yet it was too narrow to allow easy passage to and from the palace. Now, the only legitimate individuals that are able to pass beneath the arch are senior member of the Royal Family, a pretty exclusive club.    Nevertheless, the arch is amazing to be in the presence of. It inspires a sense of awe that is not matched by many other pieces in the world. It is funny how overlooked the history of the arch is. How can you not be enthralled by a giant marble arch that seems to be out of place in a very busy city? Anyway, I am sure you will have no difficulty locating the arch while staying at any of the numerous Mayfair hotels in the area.    It seems as though London hotels have the best locations when it comes to partaking in sightseeing. The district of Mayfair is no exception. It offers some of the best sights that London has to offer, while providing you with a sense of being outside of all the London hustle and bustle. Whether you plan on staying at one of the lovely Mayfair hotels or not, make sure that you at least spend an afternoon in the area exploring the sights and sounds of what is often referred to as the “gem of London”.
