Private Aircraft Charter: Getting Away From Commercial Flights

Commercial airline flights in America are in a woeful state, and it's far too expensive to get a private aircraft charter, right? Well, maybe not.

The state of commercial airline flight in America is woeful. Prices are being raised all the time, while service is at an all time low. The TSA has made getting bothered on the way to your plane a very real possibility, and a near certainty if you fly frequently. All this is something that most people who have to fly simply have to put up with. After all, it's far too expensive to get a private aircraft charter, right? Well, maybe not. While it is certainly not going to be in the price range of the average American, those with a little extra money may find that flying private isn't as impossible as they might have thought.

Fractional Ownership

Some people have found private aircraft charter to be within the realm of possibility with the concept of fractional ownership. Think of this concept as "time sharing" for airplanes. Instead of buying a jet outright (which would cost millions) or paying for your own personal flights directly from a company (which is still expensive), you can take part in part ownership with several others. This only makes sense if you fly very frequently, but for those that do, the economics of it might make sense.

Buying a Seat

Getting a private aircraft charter doesn't necessarily mean you have to rent out the whole plane. Some companies allow multiple people to buy a single seat or two on a plane, turning it into something akin to commercial flight, but on a much smaller scale. Think of it as carpooling through the sky. It will still cost quite a bit more than a seat on Delta, but with that money you will get to avoid the hassles of airline security, the poor service from the big airlines, and you won't have to eat peanuts as your midflight snack.

Corporations

If you want to impress clients or your employees need to do quite a bit of traveling, private aircraft charter may make a lot more sense than flying commercial. When you fly with the big airlines, your schedule is their schedule. You may want your employee back in the office on Monday morning, but if there aren't any planes going out on Sunday night, that could be an impossibility. When you go private, you get to choose your own schedule. Are there additional costs? Of course, but when everything is factored in, you may find that the price differentials are not as substantial as you thought. And it goes without saying that many of the best private airlines offer discounts to businesses who give them a lot of passengers.
