Serious ski bunnies can’t stand being separate from the slopes for too long. The feeling of solid ground just isn’t quite right for them. For the seriously dedicated snow addicts,Summer Ski Holidays Articles summer is the worst season of them all as the weather can’t get any further from suitable skiing weather. But, there is some comfort for these die-hard skiers. Oh yes indeed, there are many resorts worldwide that manage to provide ski holidays all year long.

The budding summer skier has two options when it comes to finding a summer ski holiday. The first is finding a ski resort in the southern hemisphere where temperatures are low enough in summer to provide good skiing conditions on the mountains. For those who have grown accustomed to their European winter jaunts however, there are a few resorts in Europe that manage to offer year round skiing, through a mixture of exceptionally high pistes, and snow-sure glaciers.

France

Those after a gallic summer ski holiday can choose between top resorts such as Tignes and Val Thorens. Both offer excellent skiing in the summer, with Tignes summer skiing provided courtesy of the spectacular Grande Motte glacier. La Plagne is a great resort for those after a more challenging summer skiing experience, offering year round skiing on the Bellcote glacier, which sits at an astounding 3,250m above sea level, and provides some of the tricker runs to be found in France. Beginners are probably better off sticking to Val Thorens, which features a particularly long skiing season even off the two glaciers, and offers some great nursery runs right on the village’s doorstep all the way from November to May.

Switzerland

Switzerland has a long held reputation as the king of upmarket group ski holidays and ski holidays in general. And luckily for those after luxury ski holidays, Saas Fee is oopen for business all year round, chiefly by virtue of most of its runs all being over 2,500m above sea level and north facing. It does also offer glacier skiing however for those who are particularly attached to glacier ski holidays.

For those that just fancy doing a bit of skiing in the summer, or for those who just simply can’t get enough of sliding down mountain sides on two glorified planks of wood, there are options. Skiing need not just be a winter sport, and ski holidays can be had at all times of year.
