The best winter holidays include fabulous skiing opportunities and a stay in one of the luxurious Three Valleys chalets.
The Three Valleys ski resort in France has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best ski destinations among snow-loving skiers. During the ski season, Three Valleys chalets will be snapped up way in advance of the first excitedly anticipated snowfall in the region. Many visitors come to this resort primarily to experience the variety and range of skiing opportunities available.
A Skiers’ Bucket List
When visiting the Three Valleys resort the choices for your average skier are outstanding and numerous. Three Valleys chalets will have easy access to over 600km of slopes, and it is best to select quality over quantity when planning your days on the pistes. Here is a list of what are regarded as the top four pistes to enjoy during your stay.
In the forests above La Tania, skiers declare a devoted love of the Folières piste. This run is thrilling and challenging for intermediate and advanced-level skiers visiting the area. This exhilarating run begins with a rush of steep gradients, twists and turns through the stunning forest. The scenery and the consistently good quality snow alone makes this one of Three Valleys most-loved runs.
The second run that should make an appearance on your list is worthy of a complete day of skiing, as it is actually a series of runs all strung together. From the top of the Saulire peak to the mountain’s base in Meribél Village, a variety of routes offer thrilling descents, sweeping slopes and opportunities for exciting speed.
The Funitel Peclet in Val Thorens offers access to the next ‘must-do’ piste: Christine. This run is not known for its speed, but the terrain offers a brilliantly fun run full of twists and turns. Finally, the piste opens up into a sweeping blue run allowing you to cruise down to the base of the Plein Sud chair.
Skiers will find an exciting red run, Jerusalem, located just above Saint-Martin de Belleville. The natural rollers lining the run make this piste fun and challenging. It is thrilling to pick up some speed and then hit the curvaceous terrain at full steam before slowing down to enjoy the long descent leading straight into Saint-Martin at the bottom of the valley.
The Best On and Off the Pistes
The beauty of the Three Valleys resort is its immense variety of skiing opportunities, all within reach of any one of the many bases in the area. The most luxurious Three Valleys chalets will be found in Courchevel, which is also known for being the snowy playground of the rich and famous. Both catered and self-catered chalets are available and many offer après-ski entertainment and spa opportunities.
Whether you want to be hurtling down rapid black runs, soaking up the winter sun on a sedate ski walk, or relaxing with all the comforts of a luxury chalet, the Three Valleys is the ideal location for your next ski holiday.
