Tips for a Great Hike in Breckenridge

Colorado mountains are ideal for hiking. But an enjoyable hike at these elevations means following certain guidelines.

Summer is a great time to enjoy a hike in the mountains of Breckenridge Colorado. The daytime temperature warm up nicely and the views are filled with beautiful wildflowers and majestic wildlife.

But unless you are a skilled hiker, there are tips you should heed before setting off for a hike in this area.

First bring plenty of water. Hiking at a high altitude means the air is very dry and sweat evaporates faster. Stay hydrated and stop often to rest and enjoy the scenery.

Prepare for any weather. The weather can change very fast so always be prepared for different conditions on the mountain trails. The day can start out bright and sunny and turn stormy very fast.

Wear good hiking shoes and socks. Keep your feet happy on this hike and you can better enjoy the experience.

Wear sunscreen and bring some with you to reapply during the hike. The sun in high elevations is more intense than at lower elevations.

Leave no trace. Please respect the beauty Breckenridge offers so others can enjoy. Make sure that the water bottles and wrappers that you bring with you all find their way to the trash can or more importantly to the recycle bin.
