Les Racines – For a more laid-back bistro with meals that are easy on the wallet, Les Racines is a pretty good choice - if you can manage to beat the crowds! Beef cheeks, veal stew, duck confit and similarly heavy fare are on the menu – perfect when you want something a bit more exotic. Located at 22 rue Monsieur le Prince, lunch costs around €16.00 and dinner hovers around €30.00 mark.

L’Ilot – If you’re hungering for some seafood while staying in the city, L’Ilot is where you should go. From amazing fish platters to mouthwatering crabs and oysters, this is where the locals go to get a great seafood fix without breaking their bank accounts. Go early though, as it gets crowded pretty quickly. Located at 4 rue de la Corderie, dishes start at under €20.

Le Bambou – Dining on Vietnamese cuisine when you’re in Paris may seem like an anomaly, but at Le Bambou, their signature marinated pork, spring rolls, vermicelli noodles and steamed rice all have their own French twist. It's pretty fast and furious here, but it's also an ideal place to pick up some takeaway dishes. Located at 70 Rue Baudricourt, 13e, meals cost, on average, between €7.00 and €14.50.

Frenchie to Go – While the Frenchie bistro is a bit too pricey for most travellers on a budget staying in the hostels in Paris, you can still sample its first-rate cuisine with a takeaway at Frenchie to Go. From fish and chips to homemade ginger beer, this is the place to go for excellent all-day breakfasts as well. Located at 9 rue du Nil, full meals average around €15.
