Now is an excellent time for families to plan vacations because of cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms as well as cheap vacation packages. However, sometimes parents are concerned about the challenges of taking a vacation with kids that are significantly spread out in age.

The key to a successful family vacation,Traveling with Kids of Various Ages Articles especially when traveling with kids of all ages, is to find a place that can offer relaxation, physical activities, and cultural interest.  Consider reserving a city hotel with a great indoor pool and going on stimulating tours that require walking, rowing, climbing and/or anything that keeps your kids moving.

Family Vacation recommends the following:

·       Find kids’ programs and quality babysitting to keep your small children occupied.  Often hotels offer good kids’ programs.

·       Water park resorts usually are popular with everyone in a family.  Such hotels can be a vacation destination in themselves.  Usually water parks offer enough activities to keep kids of almost any age busy, wet and having fun.

·       Rent a hotel room or suite with enough space for everyone.  Family vacations can deteriorate over bickering about sides of the bed or which TV programs to watch.  Space is particularly important for families with teenagers who often want more privacy than younger children and follow a different sleep schedule.

·       Beaches offer ideal family friendly destination vacations.  Teens may want to spend most of their time in the water whereas younger kids may spend nearly all of their days building sand castles.  Parents can position themselves to keep both parties in view.  Lunch breaks and family walks along the shore can bring families together.

·       Dude ranches are where families can immerse themselves in cowboy lore, campfires, and outdoor activities.  Ranches tend to create an enclosed environment that fosters family togetherness.

Wherever you go, try to visit area attractions.  Zoos, aquariums, grassy parks, even candy stores are just a few things worth exploring at a new destination.

Remember to be open to compromising when on vacation with family.  Accepting compromise shows children by example the importance of others’ feelings and the value of selflessness and patience.
