Welcome to Mayfair!Definitely the most luxurious district in London. A lot of people visit this exclusive and most expensive place on the Monopoly board game map. In the game of Monopoly, it is only really the owner of Mayfair that gets any joy out of it. In fact landing on Mayfair is possibly as bad as it can get for a visitor. With any luck the owner hasn’t built any houses or hotels in Mayfair otherwise it just gets worse for the passer-by who will leave dejected and depressed. No need to sweat though; Monopoly isn’t real life. In reality Mayfair is nothing short of spectacular for everybody; residents, visitors and tourists alike. Home to Lord Burlington who, in 1719, built his own residence, aptly named Burlington House which would later become the world renowned Royal Academy of Arts. The name Burlington is synonymous with the area and the most exclusive retail location in London is also named after the famous family; the Burlington Arcade. Britain’s first ever shopping arcade is home to classic and contemporary retail outlets that cater for all; those buying gifts, those treating themselves or even those just window shopping. From Harrys of London to Ciro Pearls. From Laduree to Ana Konder. You see where I’m going with this. It may be “expensive” but that is no reason to feel excluded from the district.
