The suburbs of Brisbane, to the west are said to be some of the most desirable places to live.

The inner west suburbs of the city follow the Brisbane River upstream and with an eclectic mix of houses,West of Brisbane Articles subtropical greenery and steep hills; it is here that you will experience the essence of Brisbane living. Many of the old houses have been restored and most have expansive decks and verandahs, perfect for Brisbanes all year round outdoor lifestyle. The suburbs of Paddington. Red Hill and Milton, closest to the CBD are full of busy caf strips, bars, and clubs and up market shops.

Toowong; St Lucia and Taringa are home to an interesting mix of professionals enjoying riverside life and students studying at the nearby University of Queensland. With one of Queenslands many unusual names, the suburb of Indooroopilly is home to one of the biggest shopping centres in Brisbane- Indooroopilly Shopping Centre .On your way to the many attractions in the west; take a detour through some of these western suburbs to see the best of Brisbane.

The XXXX Brewery is located in Milton, but that is not the only point of interest there. The legendary Lang Park sports ground is located in Milton as well.  Park Road is alive with restaurants and cafes and there is even a mock Eiffel Tower.  There are upscale shops and markets located on Park Road and a fabulous bookshop, Coaldrakes. Rosalie is a nearby suburb which is much smaller than Milton, but also home to many outstanding restaurants and cafes.  No trip through Rosalie is complete without a stop at Freestyle Tout, the dessert-only restaurant.

The Castlemaine Perkins XXXX Brewery has been at it's Milton location sicne 1878 and is quite the Queensland icon. Not to mention the superb XXXX beer, it is an icon that stands alone. Those living nearby are used to the pungent smells of the brewery as it fills the nearby air.  Beer lovers will certainly enjoy a tour of this brewery.  The tour lasts just over an hour and appointments are recommended. This tour is concluded with a deluxe sampling of the very beer that is made on site, in the Ale House Bar.

Queenslanders line the streets of the inner city suburb of Paddington, many of which have been carefully restored.  Here you could easily spend an entire day shopping, browsing and eating.  One end of Paddington, known as Petrie Terrace has excellent restaurants and antique shops.  Paddington Tavern offers lovely city views.  Many of Brisbane's oldest buildings are located here in Paddington, on the main commercial strips; Given Terrace and Latrobe Terrace.
