Pet facilities: Is Fido along for the trip? Then finding a lodging site that accepts pets is a must. Pet friendly hotels often welcome small to medium dogs and some cats. If travelers have a gigantic St. Bernard, this may be another story.

Bicycle or kayak rental: In locations where biking and kayaking are popular, many hotels have these sporting goods available to rent. This makes it easier than hauling your own across country on a roof rack.

There are many different hotels to fit an array of tastes, budgets and preferences. A traveler just needs to decide what he or she wants and find the hotel that is right for him or her.
