There are many things to consider when selecting A web development Firm.
Determining who you should work with for your web updates can be a difficult task – especially if you’ve never selected a web design firm before. Doing a Google search for “web design firm” gives an overwhelming list of over 13 MILLION results. Here’s a couple of things to consider when choosing who you’ll work with.
Price - I don’t necessarily think this is the most important thing to consider but many people will put it at the top of their list. As with most businesses, web development work tends to follow the concept of supply and demand. Higher prices may lead you to a firm that’s very busy with “large” clients and may take quite a long time to get work done. Very low prices may imply a part time web developer. Ask questions and get an understanding of who you’re working with.
History – Has the company in question been doing web development for a week, a month or decades? As an example, FastWebUpdates has been in business since 1996. We’re certainly not the oldest guy on the block, but we’ve got experience and provide great service. That’s CERTAINLY not to say that you can’t find great service from a company that’s only been around for a year… just keep it in mind.
Promises – A company that promises you certain rankings or results should be looked at with a suspicious eye. When it comes to organic (natural) search rankings its simply NOT POSSIBLE to guarantee #1 rankings. Firms that tell you otherwise are not being honest with you. They can certainly promise IMPROVED rankings, but if they’re telling that they’re going to get you ranked #1 for all of your terms you’re in for a letdown.
Contracts - Do yourself a favor and get a detailed proposal in writing. Firms that operate on a handshake or via verbal agreements are setting you (and themselves) up for a bad relationship. There’s nothing wrong working with a buddy or a friend you’ve had a longstanding relationship with – but get a proposal in writing. That way there will be absolutely no question about what’s being done, when it will be done or the associated costs.
Reputation – do a Google or Better Business Bureau search for the company in question. If your results come back with a bunch of complaints and negative comments you may want to choose another firm – or at least reach out to the company and ask them for a response.
Social Media – Many people forget to check their own social network when selecting a vendor. Ask around – you may be interested to see what you find.
There are literally millions of potential web development firms out there for you to work with. Take some time to research your potential business partner and you’ll be much happier with the results (regardless of who you choose).
