The weight loss industry is multi billion dollar industry, herbal weight loss pills have become part of this growing rapid fat loss trend. There are literally thousands of weight loss pills out there to choose from, however are they worth taking or are they just simply a waste of money? 

Most herbal weight loss pills claim to accelerate the process of fat loss by either speeding up the metabolism or by acting as digestion aid. Many herbal pills contain the active ingredient senna, which is well known for being a laxative. Health care experts have stated that these pills are just merely laxatives packaged to appear like weight loss supplements. The majority of the herbal weight loss pills on the market are not actually FDA approved or have not been thoroughly scientifically tested. Therefore is it worth taking them when you could be risking your overall health? This question could be answered by saying, if you are using pills as a method of losing weight, without taking regular exercise or modifying your eating habits then it is dangerous. 

Herbal weight loss pills should not be taken as a substitute for healthy lifestyle habits. If they are taken at all they should be used as an aid, not a solution. 

As stated previously there are various types of herbal weight loss pills, the first one being a thermogenic pill. These types of pills are said to increase your metabolism by recreating the conditions in your body similar to if you had undertaken exercise. Usually these types of pills contain caffeine which increases heart rate and also aids in digestion. The other type of herbal pill is the type that aids in digestion, therefore cleansing the system and eliminating toxins, thus removing excess water and in turn burning fat. Although there is no real proof that these pills work they are still being sold in their thousands on a daily basis. Are they safe? One could argue that if you wish to lose weight you should exercise caution when using pills. The combination of good diet and exercise should suffice when trying to shed excess pounds.
