Hot flashes come with other symptoms like palpitation or strong heartbeats, sweating, and reddened skin. The pulse rate and body temperature rise. Moreover, many women experience insomnia or sleep disorder. The symptoms remain with women for two to three years in normal cases, but can last five to even 15 years in rare cases. 

As other common symptoms of menopause, we find women suffer from bone loss, weight gain, and become more prone to heart diseases. Bone loss during menopausal period increases to 3 percent contrary to an average loss of 0.13 percent per year. The bone loss drops later to 2 percent per year. Bone loss increases the risk of osteoporosis in which the risk of bone fractures increases.  The fractures become very painful and increase several health risks. 

Menopause stage brings the risk of heart diseases with it. Both the aging and hormonal changes occur at this age, one or perhaps both are responsible for the increased risk of heart diseases.
