Symptoms of Vaginal Infection that You Ought to Know

Vaginal infections can happen to women any time due to various reasons. If not addressed properly, they turn nasty. When the infection is caused by a venereal disease, the results will be more severe. The common symptoms of vaginal infection include pain during lovemaking, bleeding after lovemaking, unusual vaginal discharge, soreness and irritation of the vulva, blister or redness, or lumps of the vulva, anal pain while passing urine, abdominal pains, etc. If any of these symptoms start, better to contact a doctor immediately. 

Many women experience itching, burning and vaginal discharge because of Vaginitis. The color and smell of the discharge may vary. The normal discharge that every woman experiences during her childbearing age will be different from the discharge that results due to some infection. The normal discharge, which is also associated with emotional stress and sexual excitement, is clear and mucus-like secretion. When the color of the discharge appears green, with foul smell, then it is not the normal discharge. It may also be of different consistency and quantity. This can be considered as one of the more probably symptoms of vaginal infection.

The discharge in case of Candidiasis or Yeast infection will be thick, whitish-gray, and associated with intense itching in the genitals. Urination and lovemaking will become painful.  

BV or Bacterial Vaginosis also causes abnormal discharge associated with foul odor. The nature of the discharge will be thin, gray or white in color. Itching around the vagina and burning while passing urine can be experienced.  In some cases of Bacterial Vaginosis, no symptoms will appear at all.  

In case of Trichomoniasis, a yellow-green or gray color frothy vaginal discharge can be noticed, with burning during urination, itching and irritation of the genitals, foul smell, and discomfort during the lovemaking. These are some other common symptoms of vaginal infection cause by Trichomoniasis. 

In a condition called Vulvodynia, women will experience stinging, burning, rawness of the genitalia, irritation, etc. Vulvodynia does not cause infection or skin disease of vagina or the vulva.
