Feminist groups exist everywhere to remind girls from all over that they don’t need makeup to be pretty. Makeup imposes unrealistic expectations of women and yadda yadda yadda. The list goes on and on of reasons why makeup is bad and why girls should feel bad for using it. Some of these groups even go beyond telling girls that they don’t need it and move on to making girls feel bad for actually using it at all. This is unfair to them and girls that do choose to go out and wear makeup,Using Lipstick to make Your Face Stick in a Person’s Memory Articles and it is unfair to everyone out there that likes the way that lipstick looks on a woman.

Of all forms of makeup, lipstick is probably the most iconic. When someone says makeup, usually the first image that pops into someone’s head is not of base, or face powder, or eye shadow, or nail polish, it is of the long tube that is lipstick. This is the most popular image that comes to mind because it is the oldest form of makeup. It has been going on for centuries, so why is it that people are trying to demonize makeup now.

The most popular argument against lipstick is that it encourages both expectations of women that are not realistic, and it also encourages women to conform to the way that men want them. People argue that it is a relic of a bygone era where men used tools such as lipstick in order to control women and have then done up just as the man wanted. This is a valid concern and one that probably was true at some point, but because of its prevalence in our culture for so long, it seems to have gone beyond that at this point.

What lipstick is now is not an item that men are attracted to. There are so many different forms of lipstick, black and blue, and white, and green, and pink. We see these and we are not attracted to these. The stuff goes beyond the nature of humanity and reaches an almost sickly color that you can’t imagine would look good on anybody. You are not attracted to the coloring of the lips itself because it reaches an almost otherworldly level. The lipstick is there to emphasize the woman behind the stuff. It helps you see her, not as the girl that is wearing the stuff on her lips, but the girl that cares enough about her appearance that she is willing to put this stuff on her lips.

People recognize how tough lipstick is to work with and how annoying it can be to get it ready in the morning and they really appreciate the look of the girl wearing it. This is not because the lipstick itself looks good but because it is attractive to know that a woman cares about herself so much. This is the true point of lipstick, so have a little respect for you, go out and get yourself some lipstick today.
