What are the Causes of Female Sexual Problems?

Causes of sexual problems in women vary from simple emotional situations to serious medical conditions. Read this article to find the major causes of female sexual problems.

It is not uncommon for females to have sexual problems in their life. For a number of reasons, the female sexual problems have firmly manifested in our modern society. Some of them prove to be of very simple origin, some of them can be reversible, while some become a source of great concern for a healthy family life.   

Causes of female sexual problems vary from simple emotional situations to serious medical conditions. We are listing below some of the most common causes of female sexual problems. 

Emotional problems like depression, stress or anxiety, feeling of guilt, resentment, etc are some of the causes of female sexual problems. The physical side also causes many troubles. If a woman is suffering from pain during intercourse due to some pelvic disorder, she will develop hesitancy when it comes to engage with the intimate act with a male partner. Many other factors, such as some kind of fear, family problems, lack of stimulation, etc, can also be the causes of female sexual problems.  Unlike men, women take longer to arouse or require more stimulation to get ready for the act. If she is not receiving enough stimulation, she will fail to perform well in bed.

One of the main causes of female sexual problems is vaginal dryness. Due to loss of libido, or inadequate stimulation, vaginal dryness is commonly seen even in younger women. Moreover, as they age, the estrogen level naturally decreases, causing the vaginal dryness. Some other factors are also considered responsible for the dryness. Whatever the reasons are, insufficient lubrication makes intercourse very uncomfortable for both men and women.

In more critical cases, many sexually transmitted diseases, like herpes, genital warts, syphilis, etc, make the intercourse painful or very uncomfortable. Apart from this, some other medical factors like vaginitis, endometriosis, pelvic mass, surgical scars, ovarian cyst, etc., can make intercourse very difficult and painful. 

When we look at the other physical causes of female sexual problems, we find fatigue, neurologic disorders, diabetes, liver diseases, kidney disease, heart disease, cancer, hormonal imbalance, menopause, pregnancy, vascular disorders, alcohol abuse, etc can ruin women's sexual life.  

Ironically, certain medications like antidepressants, chemotherapy drugs, high blood pressures and antipsychotic medications, etc can also cause female sexual problems.

Moreover, in some cases, if a woman has been sexually abused or had some trouble with her partner, or her partner has some kind of sexual disorders, she develops hesitancy against the intimate act.
