Brief biography:
My name is Steve Hobbs and for the last 30+ years I have been involved in playing and working in wilderness, remote and outdoor settings.
During that time I have worked in forestry camps fighting forest fires and led ten-day whitewater canoe trips for youth on northern lakes and rivers of Ontario, Canada. I’ve been a whitewater rafting guide trip leader for 21 summers, sharing the majesty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains with people from all over the world. I was a Wilderness Remote First Aid Instructor Trainer for the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) for 20+ years. I instructed instructor trainers to instruct instructors to instruct people like you. During this time, I edited a wilderness remote first aid book used by instructors and participants. In support of my rafting and first aid instruction I used the adult learning techniques I gathered through my continued university studies while obtaining my doctorate in adult education. And I have been a workplace trainer, teacher, coach and consultant involved in learning and development, leadership and management, and knowledge-skill competence validation. More importantly, of the 1000s of people I took into the outdoors I brought everyone back safe and sound. Yes, there were some bumps and bruises, small cuts – but it means they were enjoying themselves))smiles.
