As you probably heard, in September 2005 Microsoft strategically renamed its ERP applications: Microsoft Great Plains into Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Navision into Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Axapta into Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft CRM into Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Solomon into Microsoft Dynamics SL. 
Microsoft Dynamics CRM is the new name for Microsoft Business Solutions CRM.  Other Microsoft ERP product were renamed as well: Microsoft Great Plains into Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Navision into Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Axapta into Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Solomon into Microsoft Dynamics SL.  In this small article we are giving our retrospective review of Microsoft Dynamics CRM customization tools and options.
Microsoft recently (in September 2005) renamed its ERP product: Great Plains – Microsoft Dynamics GP, Navision – Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Axapta – Microsoft Dynamics AX, Solomon – Microsoft Dynamics SL, Microsoft CRM – Microsoft Dynamics CRM. 
Microsoft Dynamics GP is new name for Microsoft Great Plains. As Project Green is progressing, Microsoft Business Solutions or whatever is temporary name for Business Systems subdivision, renamed Project Green into Microsoft Dynamics.  Now Microsoft Great Plains, Microsoft Navision, Microsoft Axapta, Microsoft Solomon and Microsoft CRM are renamed into Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics  AX, Microsoft Dynamics SL and Microsoft Dynamics CRM respectively
Microsoft Client Relation Management system (Microsoft CRM) and Microsoft RMS are both Microsoft SQL Server based applications, however historically Microsoft was purchasing industry leading software applications, such as QuickSell which is now Microsoft RMS.  So, RMS design fundamentals were minted a long time before Microsoft CRM.  But, still integration between the two is straightforward and what you need is consultant, who is familiar with both systems structures and customization scenarios
Microsoft Access is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft and is part of the Microsoft Office suite. In November 1992, Microsoft launched The Microsoft Access version 1.0.
Microsoft Dynamics or former Microsoft Business Solutions products line, including Microsoft Dynamics GP – Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics AX – Axapta, Microsoft Dynamics NAV – Navision – is now on the way to move to .Net platform, this will mean that for the development community we should pay more and more attention to Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and probably deemphasize Crystal Reports/Crystal Enterprise
Microsoft Dynamics project was first known as Microsoft Project Green, and got its current name in September 2005.  Currently Microsoft Dynamics unifies the family of former Microsoft Business Solutions ERP & CRM products: Great Plains, Microsoft CRM, Axapta, Navision, Solomon
As we are writing this article – a lot of new ERP related information about Microsoft Business Solutions products: Axapta (Microsoft Dynamics AX), Navision (Microsoft Dynamics NAV), Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Great Plains is published on the daily basis, especially with the advance of the so-called “Project Green”. 
Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Retail Management System (Microsoft RMS) are originally developed by different software vendors, who had no idea that in the remote future (now) these two applications will be owned by Microsoft and will need to be tightly integrated.

Microsoft Dynamics GP is new name for Microsoft Great Plains and first wave of former Microsoft Project Green.  You probably have the impression that Microsoft is leveraging all the set of its technologies: .Net, MS SQL Server, Sharepoint, Visual Studio, Active Directory, MS Exchange, XML Web Services
Microsoft CRM is CRM application, maintained and supported by Microsoft Business Solutions.  Microsoft CRM utilizes majority of the Microsoft technologies: Windows Active Directory, SQL Server, MS Exchange, BizTalk (integration with MS Great Plains, and soon with Navision), Message Queuing, .Net web services to name a few.  There is market demand on the efficient integration of MS Office documents into Microsoft CRM

Microsoft Retail Management System serves retail single store as well as retail chains clientele.  The customization scenarios, described in this article deal with the chains, when Microsoft RMS has multiple stores databases and Headquarters.  Microsoft RMS is SQL Server-based application, so we will consider SQL programming – SQL queries, views and stored procedures.  Also Microsoft RMS could be integrated on the SQL level with other applications, such as Microsoft Great Plains, Microsoft CRM and non-Microsoft applications, such as Lotus Notes/Domino
