My Gamo Whisper Air Rifle Review

The Gamo Whisper Air Rifle is one of the best air rifles on the market for the money today. If you want a air rifle that has reduced sound because you live in the suburbs this is the rifle for you. Whether you don’t want to scare off the next squirrel around the corner or you don’t want your annoying neighbors complaining about the noise level of your rifle the Whisper doesn’t disappoint. It comes with a built in noise dampener that reduces the noise by 52% which is very noticeable compared to other similar air rifles, and it is coined as the “Quiet Gun” for a reason.

Durability

It is a well built rifle and in my opinion is not too light or too heavy. It has a molded cheek pad on opposite sides of the rifle for better stability and aim control. Some people have noted that the scope is of low quality, however, I haven’t had many problems with it and I managed to get the scope locked in place quite easily.

Accuracy

Anytime I’m looking at buying a new air rifle, accuracy is always on the top of my list I always want to fire and hit on my first shot because sometimes you don’t get another chance, and from a safety point I definitely do not want to hit any of my neighbors! I have to say the whisper does not disappoint in this category. I was able to consistently shoot cans from a distance of 50 yards with no problem at all.

Power

Power is also something that I value in an air rifle. After firing my first 50 shots at my target I realized that some pellets had gone straight through the board! The penetration was very good and I was very impressed. It does pack a punch at 950 feet per second and the recoil startled me at first. It is a gun that I would not recommend to children starting out in their hunting conquests however.

Pros and Cons

The pros of the Gamo are that it can hold up to 50 pellets in the left hand chamber and has a simple and fast load time. After firing your first 100 shots it “settles in” and becomes much quieter. The accuracy is almost perfect from 50 yards away and at 100 yards can still hit the mark. The cons of the Whisper are that it is not really suited for youngsters and again, it takes awhile to settle in regarding the noise level.


I would recommend this rifle to anyone that wants a quiet and powerful air rifle. It is one of the best air rifles for the price.
