DIY Installation of Flip Down Monitors

Flip down monitors can be easily seen, specially in the bus in Asia countries, convenient for passengers. But in fact, many people in the US or European countries would like to buy a flip down monitor with a Car DVD Player for their own rides together. And most of them love DIY, and start to consider: how to hook up a flip down monitor?

Here are some basic steps but with specific instructions:

1. Open the sunroof and remove the rubber edge trim.Press down slightly to remove the car’s dome light. Remove the rubber edge trim slightly (by using a tool if it’s too hard).

1. Place flip down monitorin the right position, and then drill mounting holes by a screwdriver. Place the sheet iron upwards corresponding to the mounting hole. Cut a small hole so as to install the power cable.

1. Install and fix flip downmonitor by screws from the mounting hole (Note: Longer screws are required.) Plug flip down monitor power cable, and connect the AV wire & electric wire to the DVD head unit by threading wire. Thread the wires through the glove box and center console to supply the power for flip down monitor..  

1. Pull out the +12V & battery wire from the back of the DVD unit (to provide stable power supply).Firstly pull out the 12V power wire and ground wire, then connect them by an electric wire. (Can supply the power by positive pole of the battery, so as to avoid running out of the dome light battery if the car is turned off. ) Connect the (yellow) battery positive wire with an electric wire (to complete the power connection).

1. Plug the video input to the video output. Connect the power cable of the DVD unit with flip down monitorpower cable. Plug the video output of DVD unit to the flip down monitor video input.

1. Sort out and bundle up all the wires, and put them into the roof bulkhead.Connect the discrete cables of flip down monitor to its power port.

1. Prepare the red, black and green power cables. Test the doom light connector by a multimeter, the pin with 12V voltage is the positive pole which should be connected to the red wire offlip down monitor. The pin with lower voltage should be connected to the green wire, and the black wire should be connected to the ground. 

1. Install the rubber edge trim back to the sunroof, and stick the screw hole covers.
