The six sigma green belt certification examination also looks for knowledge about the overall six sigma process, its value and organizational goals; quality function and deployment; design and process failure and what to do about it. In addition the examination looks at expertise in process management for projects including identifying customer wants and desires, collecting customer data, and translating customer requirements.

Six sigma green belt certification also looks at the individuals ability in project management basics such as problem solving, project scope and project metrics or measuring. It is important for the candidate for certification to demonstrate a solid knowledge of project tools, project documentation, project risk analysis as well as project closure. Team dynamics and performance, team communication, and in depth data analysis are also part of the examination process.

It must also be understood that the six sigma green belt certification might not be transferable to other companies. The reason being is that the six sigma process has very little standardization because it is organization tailored. Should you decide to switch companies, not matter where the location might be, you will most likely have to repeat the green belt certification process at the new location.
