You are the somebody now. You have that big important office to go with your big important job title and new high level responsibilities. Can you imagine how silly it would be to walk into the office of a highly paid important executive and see him or her sitting there behind a little particle board desk like the one you had in your first basement apartment in college. You want to find something that says to everyone that comes into your office just how important you are. This should be done both for effect and for power and influence. Your desk itself will help you do this. You may think I'm being cheeky, but this way of thinking does actually seem to resonate with many readers. They don't care if the person who uses them is rich or poor, influential or inconsequential. A desk just wants to be used for the purpose it was designed to fulfill. The bottom line point is, if you need a quality desk like these then go for it. Don't feel bad. Every individual is just as important as the other.
