How do we define the term ‘equal opportunity employer’ in a most honest way? Is there any possibility that an employer in any part of the world can be truly an ‘equal opportunity employer’?  How one can be totally free from partiality or personal preference at least at some level?

Why this term is more often used in many career advertisements?  Certainly to create an impression about the organization that there will be no discrimination or gender or race or colour shall be followed and the opportunity is equal to all and success is purely depending upon merit and talent.

The moral values of man have started in a more occult fashion as ‘contractarian’ philosophy in the pre-historic times.   This philosophy was based on ‘ego’ as its key ingredient.  The ‘ruler man’ (kings) were believed to have been contracted out the right to do what ever they wishes to do so with the subjects (both animals and human being).  The contract right denies the right of subjects to question the acts of the affluent people those days.

The next phase development was ‘utilitarian’ philosophy where the utility justifies all heinous actions of the man.  Human slavery existed in different parts of the world would have been a form of ‘utilitarian’ justice only.

Subsequent to that,Nature is the best equal opportunity employer Articles the law of equal human worth started appearing in the centre stage in the moral domain of man.  This was the strong philosophy, Jesus had professed to the mankind through his saying of ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’.

The discussion is not about the evolution of equal opportunity employer concept but how relevant such feeling or emotion is if we were to consider hypothetically the nature to be as an employer and all the diverse species as its employees.

Has nature created any bias in terms of gender, race or colour?  Has it discriminated any species as small or big, flying species vs. flightless species etc? Every species is given equal opportunity and wisdom & weapons to fight and survive in the ecosystem.  Every species has been given enough space and freedom by the nature.

In the limited facilities given to different species, nature also has given wisdom to derive limitless options and possibilities for their success.  None is unimportant in nature.  Every one is playing a significant role in nature and without their function; the nature may be doomed to hell.  The smallest microbes in nature too share a very big responsibility of decomposition and such role is essential for the very survival of the nature.

The creation of diversity among species or various departments in corporate parlance are only to enhance the performance and to recognize the specific role different species.  To create a very transparent and supportive administration only such species diversity and habitat specificity is been created to different species by nature.

Every employer and entrepreneur must spend sometime from their busy business to learn the essential essence of corporate administration and how to become a true equal opportunity employer.  Without examples, learning becomes impossible.  None can offer the best practical/laboratory trainings to the employers and entrepreneurs about the basic tenets of corporate administration like nature.  Be available sincerely and innocently to learn from nature.
