The recently released Samsung S8500 Wave has been an eagerly anticipated device.  Promising a number of firsts from the manufacturer, the Samsung Wave boasts video recording in 720p quality along with other impressive features such as super AMOLED capacitive touch screen technology.

The Samsung Wave is equipped with a digital camera that can be described as nothing short of stunning.  Featuring five mega pixels and operating at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels it includes a number of image enhancing features such as Autofocus,Guest Posting LED flash and face, smile & blink detection.  As mentioned this camera can also shoot video in 720p quality at a rate of 30 frames per second providing impressive high definition footage.


In order to gain the optimum level of connectivity dependent upon location and network coverage, a number of connectivity features is employed.  In order to stay connected to cellular networks, class 10 versions of both EDGE & GPRS are utilised.  In areas covered by 3G, access to the Internet is provided thanks to an HSDPA connection at 7.2 mega bytes per second (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second).  A faster Internet connection can be attained thanks to Wi-Fi Technology which utilises the signals provided by wireless Internet routers allowing users to surf the web at broadband speeds.  The handset can also be directly connected to a computer thanks to a micro USB connection which allows a number of tasks to be carried out including backing up contact information and transferring media files.  Bluetooth is also installed as standard.


The dimensions of the Samsung Wave are 118x 56x 10.9 mm making it perfectly sized for comfort of use whilst its slimline profile and light weight of just 118 g makes it a pocket friendly handset.  Appearance wise, it is an attractive handset so is sure to appeal to style conscious users who also view their phone as a fashion statement.


Vibration and ringing are the primary methods of alerting users to incoming calls and messages.  MP3 files can also be assigned as ringtones in order to allow users to customise their phone so that they can hear the song of their choice every time the phone rings.  In order to achieve effective handsfree talking, both a 3.5 mm audio Jack and a speakerphone system are installed in the handset.


The super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen measures 3.3 inches.  As well as providing a dynamic and effective means of navigating the Bada operating system user interface, it also serves to display high quality imagery with a up to 16M within a pixel setup of 480x 800.


Internal memory is either 2 GB or 8 GB dependent upon model.  This offers a good deal of storage for data such as media files, however further storage can be attained if necessary by employing the micro SD slot and installing a memory card of up to 32 GB.


A good number of additional features such as a versatile media player, Google maps and a number of pre-installed games all serve to carry out various functions.
