Latino population in the United States is growing. Entrepreneurs with Mexican ancestors have to compete on small business market in such industries as retail, Mexican cheese, meat and specialties distribution, retail and small manufacturing.

All these are good candidates to be automated by SAP Business One ERP.  Current situation as we are writing this paper in July of 2012 is uncertain.  But we believe that US economy should turn around and open the way to future prosperity.  Let’s form this paper in FAQ style:

Q.  Is user interface available en Español?A.  It is available.  There is no need to install additional add-ons.  You can switch languages directly in client application or you can associate default language with named user

Q.  Why do you recommend SAP B1 to Latino business community?A.  In our opinion something like Microsoft Dynamics GP or as it was formerly known Great Plains Dynamics is another great option.  But B1 has newer interface and available on such ERP markets as Brazil and Mexico.  GP is also available in Mexico but internationally Microsoft Dynamics seems to be rather promoting AX formerly known as Axapta.  Another consideration is SAP brand name and possibility to grow your company without concern about accounting software replacement.  Latino owned companies in such areas as Chicago,SAP Business One en Español Betting on the Growth Articles Atlanta, California and Florida have up to couple of hundred employees.  In this scenario you should rather pick something reasonably priced or better say inexpensive

Q.  We are trying to pick either Business One or Great Plains.  In our situation we have subsidiary in Colombia and Brazil (Campinas Sao Paulo region).  Please share your thoughtsA.  You should be aware that Dynamics GP is not localized in Brazil and you may face such complex requirements as SPED and taxation rates and formulas.  We would rather recommend Business One.   We have already seen the scenario when Chicago based multinational company with manufacturing facility in Amazonia implemented B1 over there with GL transaction level integration via GP Integration Manager.  We understand that it is difficult to make final decision as your situation might be unique.  Great Plains is very popular in the United State but so is Business One.  Think about such dimensions as Consolidated Financial Reporting (FRx or Microsoft Management Reporter in the case of GP and Branch Consolidation on GL level in the case of Business One), tax compliance and internal audit.  This is not a complete list – we are just giving you the ideas for your homework

Q.  We are using Dynamics GP in our headquarters in Chicago and Microsoft recommends us AX for location in Peru as they think that we have manufacturing operations there.  We feel that production is pretty simple and we need something like Bill of Materials only.  AX seems to be expensive from both sides: software price and implementation hours.  Please commentA.  We are excited about AX technology.  But you might be right as it is geared toward larger companies.  Pricelist and required number of consulting hours might be above your budget in Lima.  B1 is definitely cheaper and easier to implement.  Please do your homework as you may have additional nuances and requirements
