(JEE) Main Joint Entrance Examination is organized to identify right candidates to offer admission to undergraduate engineering programs at NITs,Revised Eligibility Criteria for JEE MAINS Articles IIITs and few other centrally funded technical institutions located across the country.

JEE Main 2017 have been announced. Offline mode of examination will take place on 2nd April while the online mode will be conducted on 8th & 9th April 2017.

The results for Jee Mains will be announced on April 27, 2017 (tentatively). In sync with the official website of MHRD(Ministry of Human Resource Development), the Eligibility Criteria for admissions in IITs, NITs, IIITs & CFTIs have been revised, particularly for SC and ST students.

The website of MHRD states, “ For the candidates to qualify for admission in the IITs/NITs/ IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class exam, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class exam conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class exam”. Earlier SC/ST students had to secure 70% for admissions in these reputed engineering institutes.

With these proposed changes, general category candidates who secured below 75 % in Class 12th board examinations will not be eligible for admission in the top technical institutes, irrespective of their JEE Mains scores. However, for SC and ST candidates, there will be some relaxation, with the cut-off for eligibility being 65 %.

Also, from 2017, the score of class 12th marks will not be a factor in determining JEE Main All India Ranks. This step is contrary to last year where JEE Main 2016 ranks were calculated by JEE Main scores and normalized marks of Class XII in the ratio 60:40.
