And among the prestigious list of self portraits is that of Coleraine’s World and Olympic rower, Alan Campbell.

Alan is Britain’s leading single sculler who won his seventh successive title at this month’s GB Rowing Team Senior Trials held at Eton/Dorney and will take part in the World Cup series next month.
Alan’s self portrait shows him with arm aloft celebrating a victory.
The wide variety of celebrity and sporting self portraits including those by Fearne Cotton, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Sir Geoff Hurst, Nick Park, Derren Brown, Brian Ferry, Jamie Oliver and a host of other famous names, will be auctioned on eBay between May 3 and 13.
Self portraits and donated artwork by established artists including Maggi Hambling and Tracey Emin will be auctioned at a live event at Christie’s, King Street, London on May 9.
Face Britain has been developed to give all children and young people aged 4-16 years throughout the UK the opportunity to create self portraits encouraging them to explore their creativity and to consider their own identity and place in history as part of the 2012 generation.
The gallery contains some fantastically creative examples of portraits, with everything from paint to leaves and sticks, charcoal to clay used. Some children have used a combination of photography and painting to create cubist style portraits, while others have used objects as a background to represent their personality.
These portraits will each become a pixel in a giant montage image of HM The Queen which were projected onto Buckingham Palace last week.
The projection will be a Guinness World Records attempt for ‘Most artists working on the same art installation’.
You can see the portraits in the online gallery www.childrenandarts.org/face-britain-auction-portraits with details about how to get involved with the auction.
