NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Natasha Estanga in Sensorial Realities. The exhibition opens July 5, 2017 and runs through July 25, 2017 with an opening reception on Thursday, July 6 from 6-8 pm.
Natasha Estanga's atmospheric oil paintings conjure up an entire world out of just a few colors and textures. Estanga's images are heavily influenced by the natural world, with names like "Thick Rain," "Sage and Ice," and "Cobalt Sun." But her compositions are not straightforward depictions. She zooms in on one detail and recreates it on canvases that are several feet across. Often she chooses a pivotal point of action: the moment a ray of light bursts through, or the joint where two elements meet.
Though they are only employed two or three at a time, the colors are alternately moody and bright. Every painting contains both extremes. Estanga is nimble with her technique, and her textures range from thick impasto streaks to politely contained dabs. Above all, her paintings speak of a wild energy and unpredictability that can only be found in nature.
Estanga was born in Venezuela and today lives in the city of Lecheria, Venezuela. She has exhibited extensively in her home country as well as in Russia, France, Czech Republic, Spain, Tokyo, North America and Latin America.

About the Exhibition
Sensorial Realities
Agora Gallery's new group exhibition Sensorial Realities offers nine different voyages into new and challenging worlds. Among the paintings, mixed-media works, ceramics, and sculptures included, there are stimulating explorations of landscape, narrative, abstraction, and portraiture. One painter creates outdoor scenes out of a jungle of thick, unbroken brushstrokes that pulse with the loud colors of summer in bloom. Another builds quietly intense psychological scenes out of isolated figures. A third toggles between sensual realism and an abstraction that depends simply on the perspective zooming in and out. With such thoughtful technical experimentation and flawless execution, Sensorial Realities showcases artists operating at their smartest and most provocative level.
