The Ben 10 cartoon series and toy range has been around for a while now. But as each year passes another toy comes onto the shelves and we,Ben 10 Omnitrix Toys – A Parent’s Guide Articles as parents, need to know whether or not it is a good buy. Four years after the first episode was aired, we now have five versions of the Ben 10 Omnitrix to choose from. If you are parent to a Ben 10 fan, you may have come across some of them before or if not, you probably soon will. To give you a clue as to which ones are worth buying this article will give you a brief outline of each one.

From the toy range accompanying the original Ben 10 series, comes the Omnitrix Alien Viewer, the Omnitrix FX and the Deluxe Omnitrix.

The Omnitrix Alien Viewer is the most basic of the watches. It has no light or sounds and is only really any good as a role play accessory as it is realistic to the version in the show. It does come with some animation disks that can be inserted into the toy to view eight images on each disk. The viewer though is not very good so the images are tiny and hard to see.

The Omnitrix FX is one step up from the Viewer in that it does have lights and sounds. It does not have disks but does allow the child to view alien silhouettes on the watch face. Again these images are quite small but the back lighting does mean you can actually see them.

The Deluxe Omnitrix is the cream of the crop of the original series black watch toys. It is chunky and comfortable to wear with its fabric strap. The lights and sounds are there along with a fair sized LCD screen on the face where you can once again view alien images. The LCD screen is also used for a mini computer game where players are instructed to transform into a certain alien to use to fight a battle. The alien is found by dialling through the alien choices on the watch but you have to be quick to finish your search in time.

The Ultimate Omnitrix is the first watch designed from the Ben 10 Alien Force sequel series. This Omnitrix is green and contains different aliens to the first series, so as to match the show. It comes with a mini alien figure so is in effect a two in one toy. The figure can be attached to the face of the watch which unlocks that aliens name and favourite saying. More mini figures are included with each purchase of a 10cm Alien Force figure. This is the best of the Alien Force offerings.

Finally the Alien Force Omnitrix Projector (or Illuminator) is again of the green variety. Instead of attaching aliens to this version, you insert disks and project the images onto a wall. It comes with three disks, each of which contains five scenes or alien pictures.  The projection is not that strong so dim light conditions are required for it to work properly and then the images are not that large or sharp.
