Indian Prime Minister launched this flagship 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)' mission on June 25, 2015 at Balliya Uttar Pradesh and is focusing on 15 states and union territories (UTs) to meet the Housing for All target by 2019. Talking about its progress the housing and urban poverty alleviation (HUPA) ministry has now approved construction of 18.75 lakh houses for economically weaker sections (EWS) in 2,151 cities and towns in 34 states and union territories (UTs), with a total investment of Rs 1,00,466 crore since 2015.

The central government had also asked states and UTs to conduct fresh demand survey for affordable housing, and the process is close to completion.

    New Guidelines Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)   The new government guidelines have been given in the interest rate subsidy scheme for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (urban). Instructions for which the middle-income group will get the benefits of home loan to buy the house.   PM Modi had also announced that those who earn 12 lakh will be given 4% subsidy on the home loan up to 9 lakh. And, those who earn up to 18 lakhs will get three percent subsidy on home loans up to 12 lakhs.   Under this scheme, all beneficiaries will be benefited from 1 lakh to 2.35 lakh, and this scheme will be implemented for one year only.   And recently, the Union minister Venkaiah Naidu informed that 9 lakh people from Haryana have applied online for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
