Blepharoplasty or eyelids lift surgery is often welcomed procedure for women and men between the ages of 40 though the 60’s. Often the procedure is performed in conjunction with a face lift or brow lift (forehead lift).  Upper eyelids are usually treated to eliminate excess tissue by skin excision,Blepharoplasty Articles tighten the muscle in the eye lid area, and remove fat pockets. Lower lids are performed to eliminate the three fat deposit bags (medial, middle and lateral) and reduce wrinkles.

Blepharplasty with Dr. Blau

One of the beauties of the blepharoplasty procedure is that the surgery can be preformed under local anesthesia or by employing intravenous sedation and completed within about one hour’s time. Prior to eyelid surgery it is important to have a thorough eye examine by a plastic surgeon or an Ophthalmologist to make sure that the vision is intact and free from medical conditions such as dry eyes or excessive tearing. Incisions are made in inconspicuous locations such as 2 mm under the eye lash (lower eyelid lift) and the eyelid fold for an upper eyelid lift. The post operative time period is delicate, requiring elevation of the head, application of cold compresses, avoiding daily activities, including watching TV or reading. The majority of swelling subsides within one week and results will be fully evident within two or three month’s time.

Dr. Blau is committed to performing this surgery with a great degree of accuracy which is required to preserve the shape and functionality of the eyes. It is highly technique driven. We welcome you to come in for a consultation with Dr. Blau, discuss all of your concerns about blepharplasty to have all of your questions answered about the blepharplasty procedure.

Should it be determined in the initial consultation that both upper eyelid and lower eyelid will be having surgery, it can be done simultaneously, and indeed many patients elect to have both upper eyelid and lower eyelid procedures done at the same time, as it can save time on recovery.
