If you don't like the sound of your dentist's drill,If You Want To Take Better Care Of Your Teeth, You Will Need These Tools Articles you should take better care of your teeth. The only way to avoid a generally unpleasant visit to the dentist's office is to take your at home dental care very seriously. You should have a variety of teeth cleaning tools as well as a daily routine that you follow religiously.

The most common tool for home dental care is the everyday toothbrush. They are cheap - anywhere from a few dollars or more. The majority of people use the simple toothbrush as their only dental care device. However, there is a new type of toothbrush available that produces significantly better results than its predecessor.

The average, manual toothbrush only removes about 40% of the plaque on your teeth. The new spinning toothbrushes are said to remove up to 90% of the plaque on your teeth. These fancy brushes are battery powered. Their heads spin rapidly, allowing for deep cleaning without any manual movement of a person's hand. Simply place the head of the toothbrush against your teeth and flip the unit into the ON position. The head of the brush will then spin rapidly against your teeth.

Spin brushes are relatively inexpensive at the low end; about five dollars. At the high end, they can cost all the way up to three hundred dollars or more. Which is better for you? I prefer the cheap ones. I buy a new one every three or four months and simply toss the old one into the trash.

The second most common tool in home dental care is toothpaste which goes hand in hand with a toothbrush. Your toothpaste should contain fluoride as one its ingredients. It's believed that fluoride helps strengthen your tooth enamel. One other ingredient you should look for in toothpaste is Tricoslan - an FDA approved antibacterial agent. Outside of those two ingredients, you'll also be able to choose between toothpastes that claim many other advantages with their use: teeth whitening, plaque removal, gingivitis control, and even fresh breath. You'll have to try at least a few of them before you'll find one that you think works best for you.

Do you floss? If you don't, you should. Dental floss is the third most common tool found in the bathroom cabinet of the average home. You should be flossing after you brush. Ideally, that means you should brush and floss your teeth at least three times a day. However, for most people, that's simply unrealistic. Our work environments aren't always friendly for proper dental care. At the very least, you should floss right before you go to bed.

Another easy to find dental care device is the dental pick. These are very small, pointy pieces of plastic or wood. They are designed to help you remove food and excess debris from between your teeth after a meal. You can use them practically anywhere. They are easy to carry with you and easy to use. However, since they are pointy, it's easy to damage your gum with them - exercise caution when using these devices.
