Are you new to the world of Internet marketing or have you been around for a while? Either way,Discover the Secrets of Traffic Generation Principles - Collect Visitors Contact Information Articles you must have heard the arguments about collecting web site visitors contact information raging back and forth.

Should you stick an opt-in box on every page of your multi-page website? Is it better to use a landing page … or a gateway page … or a squeeze page … or a newsletter email list sign-in form? What about a contact us link? What do you think about them? Well, you get the idea.

Here is a test for you. Let's check out a competitive keyword search phrase. Go ahead and Google or Yahoo this term…"website hosting" There's lots of competition right? (1,890,000 sites and counting)

Now, assume any one of those top ten results is your site--you are in traffic heaven, right? Remember, you paid to get the site built and optimized. It looks great, lots of info on them. Well, not quite so fast.

Next, take a look at any one of those pages from the visitor's point of view.

Can you remember the name or URL address of any one of those top ten sites right now without looking? Nope, probably not! So, how will you find that site again?

Okay, now ask yourself how will your visitors find your actual site again? Oh right, search engine optimization (SEO) will keep your site in the top ten! Think again.

Instead, what if you could think of a way to know exactly who visited your site?

Now, take a look at those top ten sites again. Pick # 5 this time and pretend it is yours. What would you do differently for your visitors? Can you even find a contact us link?

What if you simply asked your visitors to tell you who they are by filling out a simple form in exchange for a free gift or service before launching into how wonderful your company is? What if 30-40% actually told you? It's a fact that over 90% of visitors will never buy from, or return to your site ever again. So, can you see the advantage you would have if you knew your visitors?

Let's look at that advantage. Let's say your example site gets 100 -300 visits per day. If 30% of your visitors tell you who they are, that means 30-90 names are added to your contact email list each day! Now, say each name is worth only $1 per month in sales. What would a list like that be worth to you? Well, you can do the math!

Now, let's be conservative and say it is only 9 names a day? That means $279 for the first month.

Just for a moment, compare that to your site if it is gathering zero names on your list?
