"The money is in the list." But why?

Why do you need an opt-in list?  If you're just getting started,Why You Need an Opt-In List Articles you probably are hearing people say "The money is in the list".  Why?

An opt-in list is basically a relationship building tool. It's a way of asking people to put their hand up and express interest in what you have to say. Without a list, you have to start from scratch ever day searching for interested prospects.

Typically when a new visitor arrives at your website, they are not looking to buy something. They are probably looking for free information, nothing more, nothing less. The fact that they are not looking to buy today doesn't mean they won't be looking to buy tomorrow. If you have failed to capture their email address, there's a good chance you won't get another chance to make a sale to that particular prospect.

In fact, hardly anyone buys the first time they hear about a particular offer. Some say a prospect must be exposed to an offer six or seven times before they buy.  If you aren't following up, potential sales are lost pretty much daily.

When very successful marketers talk about making money while they sleep, most of them are referring to being able to send a message to a very large list. If a particular item converts at 2%, obviously you will make a lot more money from a list of 10,000 prospects than you will from 100 or 1,000 prospects.

Growing a list of interested prospects doesn't happen overnight. Robert Allen Was challenged to make $24,000 in 24 hours. Instead of making $24,000 in that 24 hours, he made over $100,000 – but the real secret behind his ability to accomplish this was that he had spent the previous nine months building a very large subscriber list.

Building a list takes time and effort.  Some marketers estimate that each subscriber will earn them $1 a month, so if you’re hoping to make $1,000 a month, your goal should be to grow your list to 1,000 or more subscribers.

Getting people to sign onto your opt-in list is only the beginning. Remember that your subscribers can choose to unsubscribe in a split second. Treat them as the most valuable asset of your business, because that’s exactly what they are.
